British Canoe Union 3-Star Training

Refine and build on your basic skills. Learn better edge control, new turning strokes, recovery strokes and cool rescues. Taught on flat water, this class is the foundation for the more advanced kayaking you'll do when you venture beyond it. Even if you never leave protected water, these skills will make your paddling safer, more efficient and more fun.

Duration: full day
Experience Required: None. BCU 2-Star Training, ACA Basic Strokes and Maneuvers or equivalent experience recommended.
Location: Aquaterra Adventures, One West Street, Bar Harbor, Maine
Cost: $135 (plus a BCU fee payable to the BCU)

Client/Instructor Ratio: 5:1

The British Canoe Union is an internationally recognized governing body for paddle sports, whose courses are becoming increasingly popular in the U.S. The BCU certifies paddlers at specific skill levels. This "star" system is recognized internationally. First, take a training session, then go and practice. When you're ready, take an assessment.
