 Video Analysis of Your Paddling Skills
We have been incorporating a video analysis of paddling strokes into our Maine Sea Kayak Guide training program for the past couple of classes. We have discovered that this has become one of the most valued components of this portion of the class. So, we would like to offer the video analysis of paddling techniques to you, whether we can video tape you or if you have a friend that can do it for you. A video analysis of your kayaking strokes and capsize recoveries is a great tool for the beginner to the professional instructor looking to refine their techniques.
One of the best features of this is that it enables you to see all the mistakes (if any) that you may be making. Most of us can spot our mistakes when reviewing the video tape, while other may not. It has often been the case, where another perspective and analysis from another instructor can point out the not-so-obvious errors in our technique. Many self-taught or poorly practiced skills can greatly affect our efficiency and make us prone to injury. If you are concerned with being more efficient and safe, we strongly encourage you to send us a copy of your paddling skills. We ask that you keep a copy of your video as well, as we will keep the copy that you send to us for future comparisons, so that way we can see what improvements you have made.
Once we receive your video tape, we will have one or more of our professional sea kayaking instructors review your techniques and write up a detailed analysis of your performance. We will then have this instructor contact you to discuss this analysis with you over the phone, as well as send you a copy of your written analysis.
